Module V explains blockchain, cryptocurrencies, tokens, wallets, exchanges, smart contracts, decentralised finance, stablecoins and central bank digital currencies. Learners examine practical SME applications, crypto risk management, warning signs, MiCA, DORA and AML obligations. Stories and case-based lessons help participants assess opportunities, compliance requirements and the credibility of crypto projects before making business decisions.
After the end of Module V, you will be able to:
Explain how blockchain works and its core features as a type of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) by demonstrating comprehensive understanding of core concepts, components and contextual relevance in the domain.
Identify the main types of digital assets and crypto-assets under the MiCA classification framework (ARTs, EMTs and other crypto-assets) by demonstrating comprehensive understanding of terminology and regulatory categories.
Understand how smart contracts and tokens are used in transactions through structured application of analytical reasoning and methodologies to real-world fintech and SME scenarios.
Assess opportunities and risks within decentralised finance (DeFi) by making informed decisions, identifying red flags and evaluating the quality of outcomes within a defined scope of responsibility.
Apply the EU regulatory landscape for crypto-assets – MiCA, DORA and the AML framework – to practical SME scenarios by evaluating compliance decisions and recognising when CASP authorisation or MiCA white papers are required.
Module I introduces finance concepts and mentions crypto-assets as an investment class.
Module II covers blockchain and DLT as technology foundations of Fintech; introduces the concept of tokenization – Module V expands on these foundations.
Module III is the foundational EU Fintech Regulation module and covers MiCA, DORA and the AML framework at an introductory level. Module V is self-contained on crypto regulation but coordinates with Module III: Module V goes deeper on the practical application of these rules to blockchain and crypto businesses, while Module III provides the broader regulatory architecture context.
